Starting from Rome Airport, you need to first take the train from the airport to the city, and then transfer to the high-speed train directly to Bolzano, which takes nearly 6 hours in total. High-speed rail seats are very comfortable, so try to put your luggage where you can see it to avoid being stolen.

After arriving in Bolzano, stay overnight and head to the bus station the next day to take a bus to the town of Ortisei. The buses here support buying tickets on the machine with fixed denominations of cash, or you can download the bus app to buy tickets directly. Public transportation between various scenic spots in the Dolomites is very convenient. It usually leaves every half an hour. Please pay attention to the time of the last bus.

Take some rest at your accommodation and head to Funes Valley in the afternoon. It is recommended to set aside a little more time to walk to the Lonely Church (I didn’t go because I was too pressed for time!), especially to return to the best viewing point early at sunset, as there will be many people taking photos there. Very, very beautiful, the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen!

We set out early in the morning, purchased the cable car pass, and first took the cable car to the Hughes Plateau. Due to limited time, we only hiked half a circle and then returned the same way. The beautiful scenery on the road made us stop frequently to admire and take photos, and marveled at how pleasant it would be to live here when we retire in the future.
